Attack on Jharpada Jail Officials by Inmates Causes Alarm

Bhubaneswar: In a shocking incident, inmates at Jharpada jail in Bhubaneswar attacked a jailer and a warder in the high-security cell on Friday, prompting a major security response. Reports indicate that the jail alarm was triggered and rang continuously for about 30 minutes, signaling an emergency.

According to sources, the attack on the jail officials took place inside the high-security area of the prison. In response, the jailer and the warder sounded the alarm to alert others and seek assistance. The prolonged alarm, typically used only in cases of severe danger, raised tensions both within and outside the prison.

Following the incident, police personnel from Laxmi Sagar Police Station quickly arrived at the scene to assess and secure the situation. The Director General of Prisons has since ordered a thorough investigation to determine the cause and circumstances surrounding the attack.
