Assistant Professor Gopikanta Suna suspended

Bhubaneswar: The Higher Education Department of Odisha government suspended Assistant Professor Gopikanta Suna of Gangadhar Meher (GM) University in Sambalpur following his arrest in a criminal case.

The Sambalpur Mahila Police earlier today arrested Suna based on the complaint of a 20-year-old female student of 2nd-year BA BEd at GM University. She had alleged that he kept physical relationship with her promising to marry her but later declined.

The Assistant Professor’s headquarter shall be the Office of the Chairman, Post Graduate Council, Gangadhar Meher University, Sambalpur and he has been asked not to leave the Headquarters without obtaining the previous permission of the undersigned and he shall be entitled to the payment of subsistence allowance in accordance with Rule 90 of the Orissa Service Code.
