ASI Dies, Six Hurt in Jaipur CM Convoy Crash

Jaipur: Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Surendra Singh succumbed to his injuries, and six others were injured in a car crash involving Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma’s convoy in the Jagatpura area of Jaipur on Friday.

The incident occurred when a taxi driving against traffic collided with an escort vehicle in the CM’s convoy near Akshaya Patra Chauraha. According to Station House Officer (SHO) Arun Kumar, the taxi ignored police signals, leading to the fatal crash. ASI Singh, who was managing traffic at the crossroads, suffered critical head injuries and passed away during treatment.

Five police personnel and two civilians were also injured in the collision. Chief Minister Sharma, who was on his way to a Laghu Udyog Bharti event attended by Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, stopped to assist. He personally drove one of the critically injured to the hospital and later visited all the injured to check on their condition.

Expressing his condolences, CM Sharma stated, “The untimely death of ASI Shri Surendra Ji and the injuries to others in today’s unfortunate accident are deeply saddening. Our government stands with the families of the deceased and injured during this difficult time.”

He also apologized for missing the scheduled event and instructed officials to ensure proper medical care for the injured. An investigation into the accident is underway.
