Arun Sahu Appointed India’s Bulgaria Ambassador

New Delhi: Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer Arun Kumar Sahu has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to the Republic of Bulgaria, the Ministry of External Affairs announced on Wednesday.

A 1996-batch IFS officer from Odisha’s Deogarh district, Sahu is currently serving as Additional Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs, a role he has held since September 2022. He previously served as India’s Ambassador to Trinidad and Tobago.

The Ministry stated that Sahu is expected to assume his new assignment in Bulgaria shortly.

Sahu completed his schooling at Ravenshaw Collegiate School in Cuttack and Chandra Sekhar Behera Zilla School in Sambalpur. He pursued higher education at the erstwhile Ravenshaw College, earning master’s degrees in War in the Modern World from King’s College London and Linguistics from Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi.

His appointment has brought pride to Odisha, with many hailing his achievements in the field of diplomacy.
