Arukha files nomination for OLA Speaker election

Bhubaneswar, June 10(Reporters Today Bureau): Former Forest and Parliamentary Affairs Minister and Bhanjnagar BJD MLA Bikram Keshari Arukha Friday filed his nomination for election to the post of Speaker of Odisha Legislative Assembly.

The election will be held on June 13 at 10.30 a.m.

It had fallen vacant after the resignation of Surya Narayan Patro on June 4 due to health issues.

Arukha told reports after filing the nomination he will strive to be impartial in the Chair and address to the concerns of the Members of the House irrespective of party affiliations.

“I will try to preserve the dignity of the House. I seek cooperation of all members to conduct the business in the House smoothly.

Notably, Arukha was recently dropped from the council of minister by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik during the reshuffle on June 4.
