All India Radio organises National Symposium of Poets

Chennai,Jan 11:

The 64th National Symposium of Poets, organised by All India Radio, started in Chennai on Thursday evening.

23 poets, representing all 22 languages in the Ninth Schedule of the Indian Constitution are participating in the symposium.

Inaugurating the SarvaBhashaKaviSammelan, Tamil Nadu Governor BunwarilalPurohit said poems enlighten hearts and minds, apart from helping in contributing to national integration and linguistic harmony.

The Director General of All India Radio, Mr FayyazSheryar recalled the glorious tradition of the KaviSammelan. He noted that this is the first time the event is being held in Chennai.

The special programme based on the event is to be aired by the public service broadcaster AIR, on the eve of the Republic Day, the 25th of this month.
