‘Agni-Prime’ Successfully Test-Fired

Baleswar (Reporters Today Bureau): India today successfully test-fired Agni-Prime, an advanced version of Agni-1 missile, off Odisha coast. The surface to surface short-range ballistic missile was fired at 10.55 AM today from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur in Baleswar district, the Government source said.
Various telemetry and radar stations positioned along the eastern coast tracked and monitored the missile, the DRDO official sources said. The nuclear-capable missile has been designed and developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).
With a range of 1000 km to 2000 km, Agni-Prime can carry a payload of 1000 kg. The missile is lighter and much sleeker than Agni-1.
