Activist Trupti Desai prevented from going to Sabarimal

Kochi: Activist Trupti Desai who reached the Kochi International Airport in the early hours of Friday to visit the Sabarimala temple could not come out of the domestic terminal because of obstruction by protestors. Protestors announced that Desai would not be allowed to go out of the airport.

The temple opens Friday evening for the third time since the Supreme Court verdict on September 23 allowing women to offer prayers. Women who attempted to enter the temple faced stiff resistance from protestors.

Talking to media over phone, Desai said she she is determined to have darshan of the diety at Sabarimala and that the government will provide her protection.
