Acid Attack in Rourkela: 4 of a Family Injured

Rourkela (Reporters Today): In a tragic incident, four members of a family were severely injured in an acid attack at Sector-A area under Bandhamunda police station here last night.

The victims have been identified as Nagendra Pandey, wife Sangeeta, younger brother Bidyakanta and mother Sulochana. The injured persons were rushed to Bandhamunda Railway hospital for their treatment. Later, they were shifted to Ispat General Hospital here as their health condition was unstable.

Sources said, the accused, identified as Santosh Soni, forcefully entered into the residence of Nagendra and threw acid on him and his family members over past enmity. Soon after the incident, Santosh fled from the crime scene. He allegedly attacked the family members of Nagendra due a dispute over land issues.

Meanwhile, Bandhamunda police detained Santosh and started the probe in to the occurrence.
