Accountant of Kujanga BEO Office in Vigilance Trap

Kujanga: Odisha Vigilance on Thursday nabbed the accountant of the BEO office in Kujanga in Jagatsinghpur district for taking bribe. He was nabbed by the Odisha Vigilance sleuths while taking bribe of Rs 5 thousand from a teacher for billing of house building advance.

The accused accountant has been identified as Suryakanta Swain, Accountant, Block Education Office, Kujanga, Dist. Jagatsinghpur.

As per reports, today i.e on 26.05.2025, a short while ago, Suryakanta Swain, Accountant, Block Education Office, Kujanga, Dist. Jagatsinghpur has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance inside his office room while demanding and taking bribe Rs.5,000/-  from a teacher (Complainant) for billing the house building advance  of Rs. 1,50,000/- in favour of the complainant.

As the said house building advance was earlier sanctioned by the competent authority of the Govt in favour of the complainant, but Swain was delaying for preparing bill without any reason.

Rather he was demanding bribe Rs.5,000/- from the compainant for processing and release of the bill amount. Finding no other means, complt alleged before Vigilance authorities about the matter. Based on this, Vigilance Officers nabbed today the accused Swain, Accountant, while taking bribe Rs 5,000/- from the complt.

The entire bribe money of Rs.5,000.00 has been recovered and seized from the exclusive possession of Accountant Swain.

Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at two locations of Swain from DA angle.

In this connection, Cuttack Vigilance PS Case No.16/2025, U/s-7PC (Amendment) Act, 2018has been registered. Investigation is in progress against accused Swain, Accountant.
