Aamir Khan announces his next

Mumbai, Jan 1:  After the debacle of ‘Thugs of Hindostan’, Aamir  Khan has announced his next film. No, it’s not a movie that will hit the theatres, but instead, one that will air on television on Republic Day.

The actor in a video on Twitter announced ‘Rubaru Roshni’, a venture produced by his Aamir Khan Productions, along with wife Kiran Rao, to screen on Star Plus on 26 January at 11 am. The movie has been directed by Svati Chakravarty. In the video, Aamir asked people what their plans on Republic Day are and specifies what after hoisting the tricolour. The ‘Sarfarosh’ star adds that he had a plan for them, something ‘special’ in store.

He clarifies that it is not about a new episode of ‘Satyamev Jayate’, a show based on social issues, which also used to be telecast on the same channel. The 53-year-old concluded, “Dil pe lagegi tabhi baat banegi (it works only when it touches the heart) and invited them to join him to watch the film.

‘Rubaru Roshni’  is the lyrics of the track ‘Roobaroo’, written by Prasoon Joshi and composed by AR Rahman, from Aamir’s much-loved movie ‘Rang De Basanti.’ Naresh Iyer had even won the National Award for his vocals. Incidentally, the movie had also released on January 26, thirteen years ago.

It is not clear yet if the actor will also star in ‘Rubaru Roshni’ or just produced it. His next project as an actor is reportedly a venture on ‘Mahabharat’, where he is set to play Lord Krishna. There are reports it might be a full-length feature film or a web series of seven to eight episodes.
