Normalcy restored in RSP’s new plate mill

Rourkela, Dec 24: The New Plate Mill collective of Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) today brought back normalcy in the Mill with in-house expertise of the Plant repairing the cross beam of top back up balancing cylinder.
The Mill commenced production this morning.
The Team New Plate Mill exhibited commendable commitment and worked tirelessly for 48 hours to revive the Mill.
The collective repaired the beam using in-house resources and expertise and put it into service with the help of the associated departments.
Notably, the Mill had a scheduled shut down on December 25 for various maintenance works. All these jobs were accommodated on December 23, as a result of which there would be no need to take shut down tomorrow.
Besides, the fabrication and machining of a new beam has already started in the Shops complex of RSP, which will replace the repaired beam during next scheduled shut down.
Soon after the revival of the Mill, the New Plate Mill collective geared up the production to achieve the target for the month of December 2018.
The New Plate Mill is a flagship unit of RSP producing high end plates for various niche segments of the market.
In the first 8 months of the current fiscal, the Mill has rolled out 548867 tonnes of plates which is not only its best performance since inception but also a rise of 7.6% over the previous fiscal.
It will continue to perform better and shall achieve target for the year.
