Crime Branch arrests man for duping Rs 1,56,000,00 through online gaming

Cuttack: The Crime Branch of Odisha Police today arrested a man for duping Rs 1,56,000,00 through online gaming app and purchasing a 2 BHK house at Jamshedpur in Jharakhand.

Based on a complaint, the Crime Branch started a probe by registering CID CB Police Station Case No.05 dt. 07.07.2025 U/s 3(5)/316(2)/ 318(4) / 351(3)/ 61(2) BNS-2023, Sec. 6 of OPID Act 2011 read with Sec. 3, 4 & 5 of Prize Chits & Money Circulation Scheme (Banning) Act 1978.

In course of probe, the CID Crime Branch Cuttack apprehended accused Lokanath Nag (45), of Sonari village of Jharkhand, on charges of cheating of Rs 1,56,000,00 through online gaming app like www.daman world.net, bounty game in, ubitcoin staking opportunity, ride BNB, HAHM. ,

Today, he was arrested from Room No. 305 of Cuttack Hotel while he was planning to extract more money from the victim depositor and forwarded to the Presiding Officer, Designated Court under OPID Act, Cuttack.

Examination and interrogation of accused revealed that he came in contact with the victim in the year 2023 networking business and with assurance to give high return on the investment in two months through online gaming app duped the victim to the tune of Rs 8,60,390 account transfer.

Other account of alleged accused is under verification. Preliminary investigation of the financial investment reveals that the accused had migrated to Sonari, Jharakhand and purchased a 2 BHK house at Jamshedpur out of ill got money of victim depositors.

Further investigation is in progress to trace out the links of other accused persons and to find out their involvement in this case.
