Five Injured in Chariot Mishap During Bahuda Yatra in Subarnapur

Subarnapur: In a tragic incident during the Bahuda Yatra celebrations in Binka town of Subarnapur district on Sunday, five persons—including four minors—sustained serious injuries after coming under the wheels of chariots.
The mishap occurred around 4 PM near the Gundicha Temple in Kansaripada, where a large crowd had gathered to witness the pulling of the chariots of Lord Balabhadra and Goddess Subhadra during the deities’ return journey.
According to reports, three minor boys from Kansaripada and one from Nuapada were caught under one of the chariot wheels amid the procession. A devotee was also injured in the same incident, bringing the total number of injured to five.
One of the minors, whose condition was reported to be critical, was immediately shifted to the Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) in Burla for advanced treatment. The remaining three minors and the injured devotee were admitted to the Binka Community Health Centre (CHC).
Local authorities and volunteers responded swiftly to the emergency, and the police have urged devotees to exercise caution during crowded religious events.
