Shefali Jariwala Passes Away at 42, Police Begin Probe

Mumbai: Shefali Jariwala, best known for her sensational appearance in the 2002 music video Kaanta Laga, passed away in Mumbai late Friday night at the age of 42.
According to sources, Jariwala was found unresponsive at her residence and was immediately rushed to Bellevue Multispeciality Hospital by her husband. Despite efforts to revive her, doctors declared her dead on arrival. While the family has not released an official statement, early reports suggest the cause of death may be cardiac arrest. Her body has been sent to Cooper Hospital for postmortem.
Mumbai Police have initiated a preliminary investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding her death. Officials have reportedly questioned the household cook and domestic staff to piece together the timeline of events. A forensic team was also dispatched to her residence for a detailed examination, adding to speculation around the nature of her passing. As of now, authorities have not ruled out foul play, and the case is being treated with caution.
Jariwala rose to fame in the early 2000s after starring in the remixed music video Kaanta Laga, which became a pop culture sensation across India. Her popularity opened doors in Bollywood, landing her a role in Salman Khan’s Mujhse Shaadi Karogi. She later appeared in the 2019 web series Baby Come Naa.
She was also a familiar face on Indian television, having participated in popular dance reality shows such as Boogie Woogie and Nach Baliye. In 2019, she featured in Bigg Boss 13, where she reunited with her former boyfriend and late actor Sidharth Shukla.
Tragically, Jariwala’s death mirrors that of Shukla, who also passed away suddenly in his early 40s. The two had dated over 15 years ago, and remained close. Her last post on X (formerly Twitter) was a tribute to Shukla, where she wrote, “Thinking of you today mere dost Sidharth Shukla.”
Her untimely demise has left fans and the entertainment industry in shock. Further details are awaited pending official confirmation from the authorities.
