Rourkela receives heavy rainfall

Rourkela: Incessant heavy rainfall in the upper catchment areas yesterday night has led to a sharp rise in the water level of the Brahmani River in Rourkela, Sundergarh district of Odisha. As a result, floodwater has entered into several homes in the Balughat region of Rourkela.
As per reports, more thatn 30 families have reportedly been trapped due to the inundation. Locals have taken shelter in school buildings after their houses were submerged with floodwaters.
The Rourkela Municipal Corporation (RMC) has distributed dry food and other necessary items among the affected families.
Efforts are underway to provide relief to those stranded in the low-lying areas.
Meanwhile, other areas in the area like Panposh, Balughat and Sardar Basti, have also affected due to relentless heavy rainfall. A few main roads in the city are waterlogged, with fallen trees blocking several routes.
The RMC teams are actively working to clear water and fallen trees. Continuous rainfall in the upper region is keeping the Brahmani River in spate.
