New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Odisha tomorrow, where he will inaugurate, dedicate, and lay the foundation stone for multiple railway projects totaling more than ₹2,750 crore. The visit holds special significance as it marks two major milestones—11 years of BJP governance at the Centre and one year of the party’s administration in Odisha.

Among the key announcements, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for the third and fourth railway lines between Sarla and Sason, a crucial project aimed at decongesting the busy Jharsuguda–Sambalpur section and boosting industrial activity in western Odisha.

Modi will also inaugurate the 73-km-long Sonepur–Purunakatak railway line, part of the broader 301-km Khurda Road–Balangir rail corridor. This new stretch establishes a first-ever rail link to the Boudh district headquarters, offering improved access to the region and to the famous Bhairavi Temple in Purunakatak. The connectivity is expected to accelerate socio-economic growth across the belt.

Additionally, the Prime Minister will dedicate several completed railway assets to the nation:

  • The fourth rail line between Jharsuguda and Jamga
  • A freight train maintenance facility at Sarla
  • A subway in the Bamra–Dharuadihi section
  • The Link C–Dumetra line
  • A road over bridge at Jaleswar
