Tuition Teacher Arrested For Abusing Girl Student

Digapahandi: A tuition teacher was arrested on Friday for his alleged link with a Plus Two girl student’s suicide case in Digapahandi area of Odisha’s Ganjam district.
According to police, two tuition teachers S. Sanatan Reddy and S. Krishna Reddy had reportedly proposed the Plus Two girl student of a local college. However, after she rejected their proposals both of them started blackmailing her by showing her photo, mobile call records and messages and threatening to make it viral on social media platforms.
Finding no other options, the student jotted down all the incidents in her diary and tuition note and in fear of loss of social dignity of her and her family members, she consumed pesticide on June 8 with the aim to end her life.
The family members admitted her to the Digapahandi Community Health Center (CHC) as her condition became critical after consuming the pesticide. Later, she was shifted to the MKCG Medical College and Hospitals in Berhampur. However, she died on June 9 while undergoing treatment.
After learning from the diary what she was undergoing and why she took the extreme step, her family members filed a complaint against both the tuition teachers. Based on which, cops arrested Sanatan Reddy and forwarded him to the court.
Search operation is also underway to trace and arrest another tuition teacher (Krishna Reddy) who absconded after the girl’s death, said sources.
