Sambalpur: Man hacks wife to death

Sambalpur: In a ghastly incident, a man reportedly hacked his wife to death at Mundilasa village under Govindpur police station limits of Sambalpur on Thursday night.

One Pitabash Naik reportedly hacked his wife Manini Naik with a sharp weapon and thrashed her with a wooden stick until she died. Later, he disposed her body near a roadside bush in the village.

However, the police team from Govindpur police station reached the spot after getting information from a reliable source and seized Manini’s body with grievous injury marks on her head and sent it to the hospital for postmortem.

A scientific team also joined the cops in investigation and collected samples from the spot for medical examination, said sources.

Later, police arrested Pitabash for interrogation over the murder. The initial probe suggests the murder to be a fall out of family dispute. Further probe is underway.

The ghastly murder has shocked and surprised the residents of the locality who demanded stringent action against the accused husband.
