ITF Asia 14&U meet in Odisha faces tough path 

The first ITF Junior Tournament being hosted by Odisha Tennis Association in collaboration with Department of Sports & Youth Services, Government of Odisha, players had a smooth and a hard path also.

As per the sources, Girls’ top seed and home favourite Maaya Rajeshwaran Revathi stormed into the singles quarterfinals, defeating Yeri Hong (Korea) 7-5, 6-3 in her second-round clash. But Revathi’s fellow Indian and fourth seed Haritha Shree Venkatesh had to work hard to beat Yerkezhan Zhanatayeva (KAZ) 7-5,4-6, 6-3. The two Indian girls were joined in the quarterfinal by second seed Jiyun Oh (Korea), who posed an easy 6-0 6-0 win over Ying Chi Chloe Wong (Hong Kong).

The match also saw the boys player, but boys’ singles, host India suffered a heartbreak as fifth seed Shivtej Shirfule went down fighting to Jao Chim Mika Gunawan (Indonesia) 5-7, 2-6. However, it was good day for fourth seed Prakaash Sarran, second Indian boy in the fray, who prevailed over Muhammad Eyad Saleem (Syria) 6-2, 6-1.
