Baripada: At least 46 people reportedly fell ill due to suspected food poisoning after consuming food served during a religious feast at Kashipal village under Saraskana Block in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district.

The incident occurred on Tuesday evening after the villagers partook in a community meal following the conclusion of a religious programme. Soon after the dinner, several attendees began experiencing symptoms of food poisoning, including diarrhea.

A medical team was rushed to the village after the mass illness was reported. While 12 individuals were admitted to the Sirsa Community Health Centre (CHC) on Friday night, one more person was hospitalised on Saturday morning, taking the total to 13.

Out of the 13 admitted patients, eight have been discharged, while the remaining five are currently under observation. Their health condition is said to be stable, according to local health authorities.

As a precautionary measure, a special medical team from the Mayurbhanj District Headquarters Hospital is expected to visit the village to assess the situation and ensure no further health complications arise.
