30 More Held in Sambalpur Violence

Sambalpur: At least 30 more persons have been detained in connection with the violence that erupted during a rally taken out in Sambalpur town to mark Hanuman Jayanti. With this, the toll of arrestees in the case has reached 79. Director General (DG) Of Police, Sunil Bansal is also likely to review the overall situation in Sambalpur today.

It is worth mentioning here that violence erupted at Dhanupalli Street in Sambalpur town during a motorcycle rally which was taken out to celebrate Hanuman Jayanti when some people pelted stones.

At least 10 police personnel including an ASP-ranked officer and the IIC of Dhanupali police station and several civilians were injured in the violence. Following the incident, the state government suspended internet services in the entire district from 10 am on April 13.
