30 Dead in Stampede at Maha Kumbh Mela

Prayagraj: At least 30 people have tragically lost their lives in a stampede at the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, according to a senior police official. The incident occurred between 1 AM and 2 AM today during the Mauni Amavasya, a significant day for a holy bath that attracted a large crowd of pilgrims.

DIG Mahakumbh Vaibhav Krishna confirmed that the identities of 25 victims have been identified, while the remaining five are still being verified. Around 90 people were rushed to the hospital, with 30 confirmed dead, as per official reports.

The stampede was triggered by the overwhelming number of pilgrims attempting to take part in the ritual bath, causing panic and chaos among the crowd. Several others have been injured in the tragic incident.
