3 dead, 20 missing after boat capsizes in Brahmaputra

A boat carrying around 36 passengers capsized in the Brahmaputra river off North Guwahati on Wednesday. According to reports, the boat developed a technical glitch following which it collided with a water supply project near Ashwaklanta Temple in the Brahmaputra. There were 33 passengers on the ferry and three others were controlling the boat. 3 persons died and 11 people have been rescued so far. There was no sign of 24 other people even after three hours of the incident. Seven to eight people swam to the shore, as per reports. NDRF and SDRF vessels from Indian Army have also been deployed on the spot for rescue operations.
