3.5 Crore in Odisha to Benefit from AB PM-JAY, GJAY

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government announced that 3.5 crore people in the state will be covered under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) and the Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana (GJAY) in the first phase. Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling shared the details today, stating that out of the state’s 4.3 crore population, these schemes will provide health coverage to a majority of residents.

Mahaling confirmed that a budgetary allocation has already been made for the two schemes, with beneficiary cards to be issued shortly. Beneficiaries can avail cashless treatment at empanelled hospitals by presenting their card details, he explained.

The Minister emphasized that while the earlier BSKY card allowed treatment at 956 hospitals, the new schemes will grant access to around 27,000 hospitals across India.

The Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana (GJAY) replaces the state’s former Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY). Together with AB PM-JAY, the schemes aim to provide extensive cashless healthcare services to residents of Odisha.
