2 Killed as DJ set Comes in Contact With Livewire

Bhadrak: The Patua Jatra celebration at the Hatuari village under Tihidi police limit in the Bhadrak district turned tragic as two persons were killed while several others were critical after the DJ set used for the procession came in contact with livewire.
The deceased has been identified as Sarat Mahalik of Arasa village and Munna Mallik of Hatuari village.
Sources said that with much joy and excitement, the Hatuari villagers were taking out a procession as part of the Patua Jatra celebration. However, the Disc Jockey (DJ) set came in contact with the 11KV conductor and got charge.
While two died on the spot, reportedly 10 others sustained burn injuries due to the electrocution. Soon, all the injured were rushed to the Tihidi hospital for treatment. Some of them were later shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) Bhadrak for better treatment.
The Patua Jatra is held for the revered Goddess Kanti Mangala of the area on the Sankranti. The Bhadrak SP directed for the investigation of the matter while the Police seized the DJ.
BJP State President Manmohan Samal and Bhadrak Collector Dillip Routray visited the hospital and checked the condition of the injured. They met with the family of the deceased and offered condolences.
