2 engineers from Maharashtra go missing in Kathajodi

Cuttack: Two youths, who are said to be residents of Maharashtra reportedly went missing after drowning in Kathajodi River in Cuttack City on Sunday afternoon.

The two youths namely Rutikes Matal (25) and Rutik Brijne (25) had reportedly gone to the river along with two others for bathing. While Rutikes and Rutik enter the river near CDA Sector-11 of the Millennium City to take bath, the other two youths stayed back on the river bank.

All of them are said to be engineers and were currently posted by the L&T Company for the renovation work on SCB Medical College and Hospital campus.

However, both Rutikes and Rutik drowned after accidentally entering into the deep water of the river. On noticing them drowning, both the youth raised alarm for help and informed about it to the concerned officials of the L&T Company, who in turn intimated to the fire services personnel.

On being informed, a team of firefighters from Bidanasi and Cuttack immediately rushed to the spot and started a search operation to trace the missing youths.

By the time of filing this reports, the body of one of the missing young engineers was recovered from the river body and was taken to the SCB hospital for postmortem.
