2 Convicts Escape From Titilagarh Sub-Jail

Balangir: Two inmates convicted of murder have escaped from Titilagarh sub-jail in Odisha’s Balangir district, informed the jail authority today.

The escapees, identified as Sumit Bihari (23) and Sobhaban Rana (28), had been serving sentences for two and three years, respectively. They reportedly fled by scaling the jail’s boundary wall around 8 pm on Saturday.

Their absence came to light during a routine headcount by jail authorities later that night. Responding to the escape, officials have formed two special police teams to apprehend the convicts. Raids are currently underway at various locations. The incident has exposed potential lapses in security measures at the Titilagarh sub-jail.
