2 Balangir Revenue Officials Convicted in Bribery Case

Odisha Vigilance secured the conviction of two revenue officials for bribery, marking a notable chapter in accountability enforcement.

Convicted Officials:

  • Bikash Bhoi, Retired I/c Head Clerk, Office of Tahasildar, Agalpur
  • Chandra Sekhar Patra, Senior Revenue Assistant, Panchayat Samiti Office, Gudvela

They were charged under Sambalpur Vigilance PS Case No.10 dated 03.06.2020, booked under Sections 7(a) and 12 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018, for accepting bribes in exchange for processing Record of Rights (RoR) documentation.

The Special Judge, Vigilance, Bolangir, sentenced each convict to undergo three years of rigorous imprisonment and levied fines. The judgment underscores the gravity of ethical violations in land-related administrative processes.

Odisha Vigilance is set to recommend:

  • Stoppage of Pension for retired official Bhoi
  • Dismissal from Service of Patra from his current Panchayat Samiti post

This verdict aligns with the state’s continued drive to root out corrupt practices and ensure fair governance.
