12-Year-Old Electrocuted While Watering Plants in Balasore

Balasore: In a heartbreaking incident, a 12-year-old boy lost his life after being electrocuted while watering plants at his home in Jiritala village under Kasabajayapur panchayat of Bahanaga block in Balasore district on Friday.

The deceased has been identified as Ayush Maharana, son of Prabhakar Maharana. Ayush, a Class 9 student, reportedly came in contact with a live electric wire while tending to plants in the courtyard of his house.

Hearing his cries, family members rushed to the spot and immediately shifted him to the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Khantapada. However, doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Upon receiving the information, Khantapada police reached the hospital and began an investigation. The body was sent for postmortem, and officials stated that the exact cause of death will be confirmed following the autopsy report.

The tragic death has cast a pall of gloom over the village, leaving the local community in deep mourning.
