11 more blocks covered under Aspirational Block Programme

Bhubaneswar: As many as 11 blocks of Odisha, 5 blocks from Keonjhar district and 6 blocks from Mayurbhanj district, have been included in the Aspirational Block Programme by the NITI Aayog, informed the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) on Tuesday.

As per the CMO’s press release, NITI Aayog has included Champua, Jhumpura, Keonjhar Sadar, Patna and Telkoi blocks of Keonjhar district and Bahalda, Bijatala, Jamda, Kusumi, Rairangpur and Tiring blocks of Mayurbhanj district in the Aspirational Block Programme.

NITI Aayog included these 11 blocks of Odisha in the Aspirational Block Programme following the request of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.

With the inclusion of 11 more blocks, a total of 40 blocks of Odisha have now become Aspirational Blocks.

It is noteworthy to mention here that under the Aspiring Block Programme, various important development programmes are being accelerated by implementing Central and State schemes together. By ranking the blocks on various indices of social and economic sectors, a competitive environment for development is being created. Due to this, development is being accelerated in these blocks.
