11 Held in Malkangiri for Illegal Hunting and Consumption of Wild Boar

Malkangiri: In a major crackdown on wildlife crime, a joint team of forest and revenue officials arrested 11 individuals near Sarkubandha village under the Rellageda beat of Chitrakonda Forest Range for illegally hunting and consuming wild boar meat.

The operation was launched following credible intelligence inputs regarding poaching activity inside the Sileru East Upper Reserve Land (URL). Acting swiftly, officials conducted a raid and confirmed that the suspects had engaged in the unlawful hunting and consumption of protected wildlife.

During the raid, the team seized approximately 42.97 kg of raw wild boar meat and rescued two live piglets. Authorities also confiscated 10 vehicles and a range of hunting tools believed to have been used in the illegal activity.

Following interrogation, all 11 accused were produced before the SDJM Court in Malkangiri. Forest officials have reiterated their commitment to preserving wildlife and warned of strict action against anyone involved in poaching or related offences.
