1.26 Kg Brown Sugar Seized in Khordha

Bhubaneswar (Reporters Today Bureau): The Special Task Force of Crime Branch conducted a crackdown last evening and seized brown sugar weighing 1.26 kg. The STF also arrested three persons in this connection.

On the basis of intelligence input, a team of STF conducted a raid near Khordha bus stand and nabbed the trio-Aftab alias Md Saiyaz of Mastan Road in Cuttack, Muna alias SK Kamruddin of Chakhandi in Purunabazar of Bhadrak district and Sourav Pattanaik of Palla of Khordha district. As the accused persons failed to produce any valid documents in support of possession of the contraband materials, the team arrested them. They also seized brown sugar and other incriminating materials from their possession.

The accused trio will later be produced before Khordha District and Sessions Judge Court today. A case under Sections 21(c) and 29 of NDPS Act, 1985 was registered and further investigation is underway. “Since 2020, STF under its special drive against narcotic drugs, has seized over 36 kg brown sugar and more than 74.38 quintal ganja, besides arresting over 100 drug peddlers,” informed the STF .
