₹15 Lakh Looted from Trader in Nabarangpur

Bhubaneswar: In a shocking incident, masked robbers looted ₹15 lakh from a trader in Raighar, Nabarangpur district, on Thursday. The robbery took place in broad daylight as the trader, Abdul Ansari, and two of his aides were on their way to the weekly market at Chhatabeda under Parua gram panchayat.
According to reports, at least six robbers intercepted Ansari and his aides, attacked them, and threatened the trader at gunpoint to hand over the money. During the attack, Ansari sustained critical injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital by locals.
This robbery comes just days after another daring heist in Nabarangpur town. On January 13, two robbers looted gold jewelry worth around 100 grams and ₹18 lakh in cash from the residence of businessman Saroj Mohanty. Armed with sharp weapons, the robbers attacked Mohanty’s wife, Amita, who was alone at the house. They threatened to kill her, forced her to open the almirah at knife point, and then tied her hands and gagged her before looting the valuables.
The series of robberies has raised concerns about safety in the region, and local authorities have initiated investigations into both incidents.
