Rourkela gas cylinder mishap: LPG distributors staged protest, stops supply


The All Odisha LPG Distributors Association today staged protest against the arrest of three persons in connection with the deaths of the four family members in the gas cylinder leak fire mishap at Rourkela. The distributors also stopped distribution services.

As many as 400 members of the association from across Odisha staged protest by calling the arrest” illegal & false”. The association also suspended the supply of LPG to the consumers for 24 hours.

The deaths were an unfortunate incident but without any investigation police arrested three persons, said the protesters.

Over the allegation of deceased’s family members that the mishap has occurred due to leakage of cooking gas, police arrested proprietor of Utkal Gas Agency Mukesh Kejriwal and two employees of the firm Trilochan Bhuyan and Pranadhan Mohanty.

Notably, Suresh Tripathy, wife Suchitra and two minor daughters Sruti and Prachi died at Ispat General Hospital while undergoing treatment for severe burn injuries during the cylinder fire mishap on July 31.
